Ernest Kalervo Nurmi, 91, a longtime resident of Flushing, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 17, 2014.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1922 in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield H.S. He spent over 60 years as a carpenter. He built his own home, cabin, and various residential and commercial projects in the Flint area.
He is the son of the late Victor and Lempi Nurmi and was preceded in death by his wife Edith and 10 of his siblings. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Dean and his children: Karen (Terry) Angles, Paul (Virginia) Nurmi, David (Linda) Nurmi, 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday May 1, 2014 at Reigle Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
