CORNER, Virginia D. – Of Fenton, age 77, died Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Clarkston United Methodist Church, 6600 Waldon Road, Clarkston, Reverend Rick Dake officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Clarkston United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mrs. Corner will be at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
Virginia was born in Flint, Michigan on March 21, 1942, the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Hamann) Reed.
On September 10, 1977 she married Samuel Corner in Flint.
She was a member of Clarkston United Methodist Church.
She loved gardening, rescuing animals, cooking, baking and crafting.
She never met a stranger, she loved everyone.
Virginia was a Lab Tech Assistant in internal medical, retiring in 2002.
Surviving are husband, Samuel Corner;
daughter, Lisa Goodwin Trevino and husband Jesse Trevino;
sons, Lars Bjork, Hannu Puhakka and Pete Pakkala;
granddaughter, Michaela Bjork;
sisters, Carol and husband William Stover,
Mary and husband David Kanous;
sister-in-law, Janet Reed;
Goddaughter, Allison Kanous Reefer;
her loved and adored nieces, nephews and very special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elsie Reed; brother, David Reed and niece, Annette Csapo Davis.
