Judi Lynn Snyder was born on November 1, 1946, to Luetta and Harry Snyder in LaPorte Indiana. She passed away peacefully at the age of 78, surrounded by family in Grand Blanc, Michigan on March 21, 2025.
Judi, was raised along with her sister and brother in Northern Indiana. She moved to Hollister, Missouri as a teen and later to Springfield, Missouri. Her early life was marked by strong relationships with family and friends, the beginning of a lifelong pattern.
Judi met the love of her life, James Gibbs, on a blind date arranged by their room-mates. Their connection was immediate, and they were married on June 19, 1966. Together, they moved to Michigan, where Jim had begun his career as a teacher and Judi embarked on her own professional journey as a beautician. Their union was blessed with two children: a daughter, Jennifer, and a son, Jason. Judi’s love for her children was boundless, and she skillfully balanced raising a family with her work, operating a successful home hair salon that allowed her to stay present in her children's lives. Judi’s talent as a beautician earned her lifelong friendships with her clients, many of whom became like family to her. Judi served as an area representative for Youth for Understanding, an exchange student program, when her kids were in high school. She found homes with American families for dozens of students from around the world. She invited many into her own home and made friends and family of kids from a variety of foreign countries.
In the years that followed, Judi’s career expanded into her passion, interior design. Her artistic eye and impeccable taste led her to work on homes across the United States, Canada, and even China, where she left a lasting impression on every space she touched. Judi's work as a designer was not only about creating beautiful environments but also about forging deep, lasting connections with her clients, many of whom became close friends. Judi remained active in Interior Design as recently as August 2024 when she traveled to Florida to work on a home. In her later years Judi was a tireless supporter and promoter of the Fenton Center of Hope where she was a weekly volunteer in the food pantry and led a senior citizens group which she named “The Classic Club”. During her time there she made an impact on the lives of the people she met and became friends with other volunteers as well as those being served. Judi was very active with her children, grandchildren, and even her great grandchildren. She loved babysitting, attending games, recitals, plays and other special events in the lives of her family. She was also known for her hospitality and it was not unusual for her giant dining table to have friends and even strangers around it. Her love of people was evident in every aspect of her life.
At the heart of Judi’s life was her unwavering faith. A strong woman of God, she was deeply committed to her relationship with Jesus Christ. She never hesitated to share the love and transformation she experienced through her savior, inspiring countless others along the way. Her love for God was evident in everything she did.
Judi was preceded in death by her husband Jim, and parents, Luetta and Harry Snyder. She leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer (Bob Strygulec); her son, Jason Gibbs; grandchildren: Steven (Michaela), Sarah Kern, Avery (Aidan Miller), Sophie (Austin Adams), Audrey Gibbs, and Nolan Gibbs; four great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Ramage; brother, Ernie Snyder; and a host of cherished friends and extended family who were touched by her kindness, faith, and love. Judi’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she impacted.
