Age 95, of Clio, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Friday, November 22, 2024, at Pray Family Care Home in Clio. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. A private burial will take place in Riverlawn Cemetery in Marysville, Michigan. Joyce’s family will gather at Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary. On Wednesday morning, Joyce will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. Vincent de Paul. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Joyce was born November 30, 1928, in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Marion (LaForest) Herr. For 29 years she was a nun with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth, Michigan. Then for many years, she worked in various administrative roles within the Catholic School System.
Joyce loved to paint, travel, care for her home, and walk her dog, Einstein. She was very connected to her church, St. Mary’s in Mt. Morris.
Left to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Herr and her sisters, Catherine MacCallum and Margaret Sovereen. |
