BESANT, Howard E. – of Davison, age 95, passed away August 2, 2014 at Sterling House of Davison. A Funeral Service with Military Honors, will be held 2 PM Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Mr. Harold Schneider officiating. A Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday, 1-2 PM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Howard was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on January 11, 1919, son of the late Roy and Catherine (Gilson) Besant. He married Lena Miles on June 21, 1947 and she preceded him in death February 17, 2014. Howard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked at Sloan Museum for many years.
Howard is survived by his son, Jim (Brenda) Besant; grandchildren, Caitlin (John) Houghton, Brendan Maroney; great-grandchildren, Isabella Maroney, Nico Houghton; special granddog, Nick. He was preceded in death by Judy Maroney.
