SAUCHUK, George - Age 93, of Linden, died February 25, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Thursday, March 2, 2017 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton. Father Robert Copeland Celebrant. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. K of C Rosary and a Chalice Service will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held 10AM until the time of service. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
George was born June 12, 1923 in Chicago Illinois the son of Elie and Silvia (Radu) Sauchuk. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines and Michigan Air National Guard, serving during World War II, The Korean War and Vietnam. George was also stationed at Luke Field Arizona. During the Detroit Riot, with his unit, George helped protect Detroit Edison. George was a Parachute Inspector and after 38 years of military service he retired in 1978 as a Master Sergeant serving in the Michigan Air National Guard. He was a member of St John Evangelist Catholic Church, and also a member of the K of C Counsel. George was an expert at Sewing and Upholstery. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, making wine from his grapevines and also enjoyed ballroom dancing. George was a loving father and his pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He was very generous in supporting many charities. George is survived by his daughters, Maria Sauchuk, Sylvia Sauchuk-Brent; grandchildren, Maria Buffa, David (Christine) Brent, Joshua (Hillary) Brent, Sarah Brent; many nieces and nephews; beloved dog Patches. He was preceded in death by his parents; Juanita Ferrara-Sauchuk, and Bonnie Mobley; siblings, Virginia Pickens, Michael Sauchuk and Mary Falagario.
