HOPKINS, Grant Matthew Aaron – of Clio, age 9, passed away at Hurley Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at New Covenant Church in Clio, Michigan. Pastor Barry Briggs and Pastor Joey Henry officiating. Burial in West Vienna Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan and from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family for future designation.
Grant was born March 10, 2010 in Flint, Michigan to Gary and Mary (Sims) Hopkins. Grant attended Edgerton Elementary and was in Mrs. Kean’s class. He was always the leader of the pack when playing with his nephews, cousins, and friends. Grant was a very giving young man that loved to race go-carts and four wheeler's. He liked to build things with his lego’s, learn about dinosaurs, and put up the family Christmas decorations in their yard. Grant also enjoyed playing video games with his brothers and playing with his dog, Charlie.
Surviving are: Parents, Gary and Mary Hopkins; Siblings, Kaytlin (Jake) Hicks, Brandon (Georgia Ashby) Hopkins, Tyler Hopkins, Hannah Hopkins; Nephews, Kirk Hopkins, Kayne Hicks; Grandparents, Roger “Papa” Sims, Valerie Adkins, Sharon Hopkins; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his church family. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa, Gary Hopkins; Grandmother, Vera Buxton; Cousins, Tommy Flores, Joshua Sims, Jacob Sims.
