HILSABECK, Wanda Jane (Fent) – Of Burton, age 90, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family on Monday, February 17, 2014. Wanda was a devoted, loving wife and mother.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 and Saturday 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Grace Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
Wanda was born in Montrose, MI on September 30, 1923 to the late Harold and Marie (Daly) Fent.
Wanda graduated from Birch Run High School in 1940 She moved to Flint, where she worked for AC Spark Plug during World War II and later opened a beauty shop.
After marrying Elwyn, Wanda worked and retired from the Sears Roebuck store in the Genesee Valley Mall.
She enjoyed homemaking, flower gardening, reading and traveling. She and her family spent many vacations at her father’s cabin in Oscoda, MI, along the Au Sable River.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Elwyn;
her four children, Donald Hilsabeck of Burton, MI,
Kay (Steve) Spencer of Lexington, SC, Janice (Dennis) Benn of Flint, MI and Mary (Tony) Omerzu of Silver Springs, FL;
six grandchildren, Sarah (Hilsabeck) Agle, Joy and Grant Spencer, Michael, Arron and Andrew Omerzu;
two step-grandchildren, David and Alicia Benn;
two great-grandchildren, Morgan Sanders and Eirik Agle.
Also surviving are dear relatives, Eugene Collar, Joyce (Larry) Lee, Marilyn (Jack) Fleischmann, Orley (Rosemary) Hilsabeck; several nieces and nephews.
Her sister, Janet R. Collar preceded her in death.
