Ellen M. Culver of Flushing, age 89, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Avalon Hospice, Flint. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family will be from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Rossell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Weiss Advocacy Center, 515 East Street, Flint, MI 48503, or the Flushing Area Senior Center.
Mrs. Culver was born in Owosso, Michigan on June 25, 1922, the daughter of Ormal Lester and Mary Hazel (Tannehill) Smith. She married Jack Culver in Saginaw on July 3, 1942. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1989. Ellen was a homemaker. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ellen was a volunteer with her daughter, Linda, at Dort Elementary School. She was very active in the Flushing Area Senior Center, where she enjoyed Body-Recall and Mahjong.
Surviving are: three children, John and wife Deborah Culver, Linda and husband Bill Gifford, Mary and husband Joel Corner; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. |
