PRATT, Herbert James, Sr. - Age 94, of Swartz Creek, died February 22, 2016. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Bristol Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-7 PM Friday and 12 PM until the time of service on Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to West Flint Church of the Nazarene. Herbert was born August 10, 1921 in Flint, the son of Cleon and Louise (Parsell) Pratt. He was married to Helen Fay Hill in 1941; she preceded him in death in 2006. Mr. Pratt operated a trucking company with his father and brother during WWII, as well as, built aircraft engines for the war effort. Following the war, he worked for Associated Truck Lines where he became a union representative. In the 50's he owned and operated Herb's TV Service, then went on to work as a Field Engineer at RCA, which became GE, until his retirement. Mr. Pratt became a pilot at age 21 and flew his first solo in 1947; he continued to fly for many years and was the operations manager for the Greater Flint Pilot's Association. He is survived by his children, Cleon Wayne (Sandra) Pratt, Herbert James "Jim" Pratt, Jr., Linda (Thomas) Coy and Daniel Pratt; grandchildren, Douglas (Sharon) Pratt, Karen Robertson, Daniel, Natalie and Carly (Ari Raucher) Sorscher; great-grandchildren, Madaline, Caleb, Abigail and Michael Pratt, Nicholas Kalisek, Elspeth Robertson and Noa Raucher; brothers, Harland Pratt, Ira (Margaret) Pratt and Delbert (Doris) Pratt; several nieces and nephews.
