Carolyne "Jean" Pletscher, aged 88 of Mt. Morris, was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 10, 2024. Jean was born to John and Mae Blankenship of Hazard, Kentucky on August 24th, 1936. She moved to Michigan with her family, as a teenager, where she eventually met the love of her life, Clayton. Jean and Clayton married in 1956 and went on to raise their family together.
Jean adored children, and after raising her family, she went on to work as a nanny for many years. After retirement, Jean and Clayton shared many travel adventures together, visiting national parks, and making their way around the country in their travel trailer, well into their golden years. The two of them were blessed to be able to create many special memories over the span of their 66-year love story.
Aside from spending time with her family, Jean found joy in the simple things; holding a baby, petting her dog, reading amish romance novels, winning at euchre, or enjoying an ice-cold Bud Light in the warm sunshine. Jean was immensely dedicated to her family, and never missed a chance to celebrate the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Whether it was a dance recital, graduation ceremony, birthday party, or just a weekend dinner, she would be there for her family. Jean was a devoted Christian and was washed in the blood of Christ. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio for many years.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Clayton Pletscher; father, John Blankenship; Mother and Stepfather, Mae and Ken Critten; and sister, Wanda Hewitt. She is survived by her three children, Pamela Kulcher (Jim), Patricia (Mike) Misko, Tony (Kristen) Pletscher; grandchildren Ken (Tina) Gocha, Kris (Angie) Myers, Amanda (Rick) Day, Stephanie (Nate) Owens, Eric Myers (Jessica), Carah (Joshua) Warren, Lauren Pletscher (Wade), Trinity Kulcher; several great grandchildren, a great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, and special friends who were very near and dear to her heart.
The family will be holding a private graveside service at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean's name to Genesee County Animal Control, using the following link:
