SWANEBECK, Nancy C. - age 79, of Fenton, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Friday evening. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hurley Children’s Miracle Network, Howell Nature Center or the Knights of Columbus. Nancy was born the youngest of six children to the late Franklin and Grace (Simpson) Beardsley. She was raised on a farm in Lapeer where she enjoyed horseback riding and fencing. She was a graduate of Michigan State University and attended the National Championship of Fencing in 1951 - 1956. Nancy taught advanced high school mathematics at Carmen-Ainsworth schools after college. She married Donald Swanebeck on August 12, 1961 and continued farming with her husband. Donald preceded her in death on July 10, 1989 and Nancy continued to manage the family farm while raising two daughters. Surviving are: two daughters, Susan Swanebeck, DVM and husband, David Brandly of Fenton, Kathleen and husband, Dan Dimich of Fenton; three granddaughters, Ava, Kora, and Mya Dimich; loving sisters-in-law, Barbara Pougnet and Carol VanBuren; cousin, Harvey Swanebeck. She was also preceded in death by: five siblings, Marion Sohlden, Roberta Campbell, Robert Beardsley, Ret. Col. Ralph Beardsley and Ray Beardsley.
