PHILP, Howard – of Burton, age 93, passed away March 30, 2015 at Genesys Health Park. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service followed by Military Honors will be held 1 PM Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Mel Leach officiating. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop #160 of Bentley.
Howard was born in Mevagissey, England on October 9, 1921, son of the late William and Bertie (Roberts) Philp. He married Veva Coolman on February 23, 1943 and they recently celebrated 72 years of marriage. Howard served his country with the Army Air Corps during WWII in the European Theatre, earning 4 Bronze Stars. He was a proud and active Boy Scout, involved in 3 Troops, #160, 121 and 71. Howard worked as a Plasterer in residential construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, puttering and tinkering.
Howard is survived by his wife, Veva; children, Sandra (Denton) Sorensen, Gordon Philp and Richard (Joan) Philp; grandchildren, Timothy, Brian, and Amy Sorensen, Stacy Robinson, Kevin and Danielle Philp; eight great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
