BROWN, Gerald D. – of Clio, died peacefully Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his residence with family by his side. It was his 82nd birthday. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at New Covenant Church, 13176 N. Linden Rd., in Clio. Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3PM until 8PM and Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gerald was born May 13, 1935 in Mt. Morris, Michigan to the late Chancy and Albena (Birchmier) Brown. He married Dorene Lang on April 26, 1958 in Flint. Mr. Brown retired from AC in 1988 with over 35 years’ seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #651. Gerald was also a 35-year member of the Roving Ramblers, 54-year member of Foresters (IOF), and 17-year member of the Senior Winter Games. He enjoyed walking the Crim every year with his wife, traveling, camping, woodworking, and gardening. Gerald loved hunting, and since 1953 has been attending Brown’s Deer Camp every year with his family and sons. Above all, Gerald loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are: Loving wife of 59 years, Dorene Brown of Clio; Sons: Gary M. (Milly) Brown of West Olive, David A. (Margaret) Brown of Clio, Stewart W. (Tammie) Brown of Swartz Creek, and Larry D. (Adrienne) Brown of Greer, South Carolina; 8 grandchildren: Garrett (Angela) Brown, Timothy (Sara) Brown, Logan (Nikki) Brown, Mackenzie Brown (Fiancé Spencer Eckert), Malia Brown, Addison (Jared) Markva, Karina Brown (Fiancé Jason Mize), and Isabella Brown; 2 great grandchildren: Xander Brown and Penelope Brown; Brothers: Robert Brown, James (Marlene) Brown, and Glenn (Gale) Brown; Sister, Donna Schlicht; Many other loving family members and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Brown; Sister, Ermalee Mayer; and Brother, Ray Brown.
