Edward Holly Giles of Davison age 81 went home to be with the Lord Friday March 11, 2016 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 19, 2016 at 11:00am at Emmanuel Baptist Church 6434 E. Richfield Rd. Pastor Jack Dowden officiating with Military Honors to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors Friday March 18, 2016 from 2-8pm at the funeral home. Mr. Giles will lie in state at the church from 10:00am until time of service. Those desiring may make contribution in Edward’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association or Genesee County Humane Society. Edward was born in Flint, MI on April 6, 1934 the son of the late Paul and Ruth (Beckman) Giles and has resided in the Flint and Davison area most of this life. Edward graduated from Northern High School in 1953 after graduation Edward enlisted into the US Army from 1954-1956 as Tank Driver. He was joined in marriage to Janice Wright on December 8, 1957 in Clio, MI. Edward worked for A&P Warehouse for 23 ½ years and also was employed by Davison Community School where he retired with 24years of services. Edward was blood donor to America Red Cross, and donated his time to help build the playscape in Jack Abernathy Park. Edward attended Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 25 years. Edward is survived by wife of 56 years Janice; children: Daniel and wife Susan Giles, Brent and wife Dianne Giles, and Sarah and husband Chris Aplin; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Nancy Martin (Peachie), and Linda Powers, and host of several nieces and nephews. Edward is preceded in death siblings: Prezza Giles, Helen Giles, Mary Goss, Rose Estep, Earnie Giles, Mattie Parker, Chuck Giles, Avery Giles, and Robert Giles.
