Of Clarkston, age 52, died Friday, November 22, 2024, at Henry Ford Genesys.
A memorial service will be held 10am Friday, December 13, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, with Father Joe Krupp presiding.
Visitation is planned at 9am Friday, December 13, 2024, at the church until the time of the service.
Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc MI.
Following the service, there will be a luncheon at The Vault in Holly MI (202 S Saginaw St, Holly MI), where a celebration to honor the life of Carl will be held.
Carl was born in Flint, Michigan on January 3, 1972, the son of the late Stanley and Harriet (Millard) Owens.
Carl graduated from Goodrich High School where he excelled in athletics playing football, basketball, downhill skiing, golf and tennis.
After high school, Carl continued his education at Michigan Technological University in pursuit of Mechanical Engineering. While there, Carl was an active member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and graduated in 1995. He began his career at American Axle and Manufacturing in Detroit with subsequent assignments of increasing responsibilities in Three Rivers Michigan, Buffalo, New York and in Detroit. He later joined Daimler’s Axle Alliance Corporation in Livonia until his retirement.
Carl leaves behind his brothers, Timothy (Melissa) of Perrysburg, OH, and Clifford (Kimberly) of Clarkston, MI and brother-in-law, Ives Potrafka, of Sun City, Az. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and loved ones Geneva, Valencia, Alexandria and Isaac Owens of Perrysburg OH, and Lindsay (Dave) and Miles Reinwand of Summit County, Colorado.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Jeannine Owens, his sisters Kelly Owens and Renee Potrafka.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, as well as Holy Family Catholic Church.
