MYERS, Junior L. - of Mt. Morris, age 90, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor David Burkett officiating. Private burial will be held Thursday at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly with full Military Honors. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8PM and Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM.
Junior was born June 11, 1925 in Copley, Ohio to the late Irvin P. and Mary A. (Prentiss) Myers. He married Esther Irish May 11, 1946 in Saginaw. Junior retired from Buick in 1974 after 30 years seniority and was a member of the UAW local #599. Mr. Myers is a U.S. Navy Veteran and served his nation with distinction and honor during the fiercest conflict mankind ever witnessed. From 1943-1946, Seaman 1st class Myers stood his point on the great Battleship Missouri; earning a Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the prestigious Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal with 3 stars. Junior was a very hard working jack of all trades. He enjoyed restorations and working on tractors and cars. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Above all, Junior loved spending time with his family and was a great teacher and mentor.
Surviving are: Wife, Esther Myers of Mt. Morris; Children: Kenneth (Sandy) Myers of Clio, Connie (Jess) Dowland of Gladwin, Carol Lillieberg of Flint, Melvin (Bonnie) Myers of Mt.
