DUMLER, Helen D. (Zelazny) - Of Burton, age 98 1/2, went home with the Lord to be with her husband, Jake, on Saturday, January 11, 2020.
Helen was born on June 2, 1921 and was a resident of Genesee County her whole life. She grew up in the St. John Street area. The daughter of Andrew and Phyllis (Kosytal) Zelazny. They came from Poland in 1913. Helen had 3 sisters, Nellie, Deloris, Janet and a brother, Stanley. Helen graduated from Northern High School, Class of 1939. She married Jacob Dumler on November 30, 1940. They were married 56 years until his death. They have 1 son, Don Dumler. Helen had 4 grandchildren, Gary, Michelle, Kevin (Carrie) and Donna (Scott), 8 great grandchildren; Grant, Ashley, Lacey, Eric, Jacob, Maxwell, John Lee and Tyler and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Helen’s long life contributed to one saying, “KEEP MOVING”. She worked at A.C. Spark Plug Division II for 35 years, retiring in 1974. Helen was a long-time member of St. John Catholic Church in Davison and never missed a Saturday Mass. She enjoyed shopping with her granddaughters and trips to the casino where she had a special feeling to win. Helen’s lifelong hobby was making her own clothes, staying in style.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Rev. Father Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 1-8pm Tuesday and 10am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church Youth Ministry or Pre-School Program.
