Plumpp, MSGT. Virtell O. age-84 passed Wednesday January 11, 2017 in California. Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday January 31, 2017 from the North Central Church of Christ 2001 N. Saginaw St., Bro Patrick McGovern, Jr. officiating, Bro. Rigel J. Dawson, Minister. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, Mi. MSGT. Plumpp will repose in the Chapel of the Martin J. Banks Funeral Home, Inc. from 9am until 6pm Monday. Ms. Virtrell Olurell Plumpp was born was born January 22, 1932 in Raymond, Mississippi the daughter of Cyrus (Catherine Patterson) Plumpp. She was raised by her stepmother Emma Plumpp. She graduated from Holy Ghost Catholic High School and attended Campbell College and later joined the United States Air Force being honorably discharged after 20yrs. of service and later obtaining employment and retiring from N.A.S.A. she enjoyed traveling, collecting artifacts, reading, cooking and enjoyed talking and laughing with family and friends. She was an avid Star Trek fan “Trekkie”. She leaves to cherish her memory brothers, Harold Plumpp of Jackson, Mississippi and Sterling Plumpp of Chicago, Illinois, nieces Ester T. Plumpp of Flint, Michigan and Katherine S. Lankoande of Raleigh, N. Carolina, nephews Harold Donnell Plumpp and Charles (Millie) Plumpp all of Jackson, Mississippi, step nephews Glenn (Clara) Beal, Turner (Faye) Beal and Anthony Beal, sister in law Gloria Plumpp all of Flint, Michigan, cousin Claretta Anthony of Jackson, Mississippi. A host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends including longtime and special friends Ruby and Herman Sherrfield of California City, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, brother Cyrus Plumpp, Jr. aunts Rosie Patterson and Esther Cotton and nephew Wade Plumpp. The family would like to express special thanks to Ruby and Herman Sherrfield, Bro. Patrick McGovern, Jr. Bro. Rigel J. Dawson and the North Central Church of Christ, Kindred Hospital and Nurse Jo Anne.
