BRISENDINE, Betty June -- Age 83,peacefully passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Betty was born March 10, 1932 in Flint, Michigan to Elford and Wilma (Dillard) Wallace. She married Jacob Brisendine on May, 1, 1954,in Swartz Creek.
Betty attended several Flint elementary schools, Whittier Junior High and graduated from Dye High School. She worked for Carman-Ainsworth schools for many years as a media-center secretary. Betty loved to grow flowers and enjoyed watching the beautiful birds in her back yard feeders. She also loved cats and dogs, and had many cherished pets over her lifetime. Betty found delight in cooking for her family - her Christmas fudge, banana pudding, ooey gooey cake and southern Sunday breakfasts were without equal. She was a zealous shopper and was often teased about having reserved parking at TJ Maxx and Value City. By far, Betty's greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother; she lived for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Jacob Brisendine, and by her children and grandchildren: Gary (Tina) and their sons, Aaron (Heather) and Garrett, all of Houston, Texas; Cheryl Pavkovich and her son, Christian, of Gaines; Thomas (Candy) of Homer, Michigan, and their daughter, Kyle Hannah of Cirencester, England. She also leaves her dear sister, Beverly Myers, of Perry, MI, and 8 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Ronal and Jackie, and infant sister Bonita.
Funeral services will be held 1PM on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Fr. Gene Geromel officiating. Visitation will take place from 3-9PM on Saturday, and 12PM until the time of service Sunday.
Cremation will follow the services with inurnment at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House of Shiawassee County for their kindness and compassionate care during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed in Betty's memory to Hospice House of Shiawassee County,2005 E. Copas Road, Owosso, MI 48867.
