RIVERS, Esther A. – of Clio, age 100, died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral Services will be held 11AM Friday, May 3, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church 520 Butler St, Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Church on Thursday from 4PM until 8PM and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
Esther was born on August 18, 1912 in Saginaw, MI daughter of the late Gustave and Lillian (Schuelke) Zeitz. She married the late Willard Rivers on December 12, 1936 in Saginaw; he preceded her in death in 1981. Esther was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Flint and a present member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, puzzles, quilting and cooking.
Surviving are: daughter, Donna (Herschel "AL") Vaughn of Clio; grandchildren, Kimberly (Joe) Sims of Burton, David Vaughn of Iowa, Julie (Brad) Hartz of Indiana; great grandchildren, Amberlie Grantham, Madison, Zachary and Samantha Hartz; brother, Jack Zeitz of Birch Run, Vera Heine of Frankenmuth. Esther was preceded in death by: great granddaughter Hannah Jo Hartz; sisters, Elaine Zeitz and Maxine Jacobs.
