Ronald L. Young of Flushing, age 74, died Monday, December 23, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Rossell Funeral Home. Rev. Teresa Peterson officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be Noon-2 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
Mr. Young was born in Davison, Michigan on June 26, 1939, the son of Kenneth and Kathryn (Merz) Young. He married Nancy L. Gifford on August 27, 1960 at Flushing United Methodist Church. He was a 1957 Flushing High School graduate. He enjoyed all sports. Ronald had worked at GM Truck and Bus for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He had battled Parkinson's disease for over 16 years.
Surviving are: his wife, Nancy Young; three daughters, Jeanne and husband Jeff Skarsten of Clarkston, Terri and husband Mark Chase of Flushing, Cathy and husband Tim Zaneske of Flushing; six grandchildren, Kori and husband Tom Yeager, Dylan Chase, Jaime and Josh Zaneske, Ashley and husband Marven Ortiz, and Heather Skarsten; great-grandson, Anthony Ortiz; brothers, Orville and wife Joanne Young, Phillip and wife Cam Young; sister, Shirley and husband Dave Clark; brother-in-law, Bill and wife Linda Gifford; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gary Young. |
