Harper, Mary Ellen of Flushing, age 60, passed away peacefully with no regrets on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at her home. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the Owosso Education Association for Student Scholarships.
Mary was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 10, 1955, the daughter of Fred and Rosemary (Allen) Harper. She was an inspirational educator who encouraged her students to be critical thinkers. Mary was a leader within the school system who worked tirelessly together with colleagues and administrators to produce positive outcomes for all young adults. She was an animal lover and voracious reader. Mary's giving spirit with family and friends will live on in the hearts of those that miss her.
Mary is survived by her siblings, Lance (Andrea) Harper, Joan Chrivia, Judy Harper; nephews and nieces, Katie, Greg (Caitie), Carrie (Paul), great-nephews; Hunter, Conner; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt, Frances Anne Allen; and brother-in-law, Bill Chrivia. |
