BROWN, Martha – Of Flint, age 75, died Friday, July 22, 2016 at her residence.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Brown will be at the church from 12 noon Saturday until the time of the service.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 East Downey Avenue, Flint, Pastor Morris Collins officiating.
Burial in River Rest Cemetery, Flint.
Martha was born in Lugoff, South Carolina on September 6, 1940, the daughter of the late Viola Pempleton and was a resident of Flint for the past 38 years.
On August 6, 1983 she married Eugene Brown.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Saturday Evening Club and member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. She was past President of the Nurses Guild.
Mrs. Brown was employed by McLaren Hospital for 25 years.
Surviving are husband, Eugene;
eight children, Shirley Davis,
Cynthia Edwards,
Marilyn (LaSalle)Jr. Chapman,
Melvin (Tammy) Blanding,
Clifton (Alice) Blanding,
Thelma (Larry) Watson,
Eugene II (Erma) Brown and
Sharica Strong;
34 grandchildren;
22 great-grandchildren;
sister, Shirley Hailey;
brother, James Tucker and
sister-in-law, Geraldine Fay Reeves.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Richard, Arthur and Jessie Pempleton; sons-in-law, Michael Edwards Sr. and Earnest Davis.
