11/23/1931 – 07/10/2015 -Emily Johnson, age 83, a lifelong resident of Burton, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Emily was born in Habersham, Tennessee and raised in Campbell County, Tennessee.
After moving to Michigan, Emily worked for GMSPO in Swartz Creek. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, relaxing on her front porch, and spending time with her family.
Emily is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, David W. Johnson, Jr., and survived by her three children: Shirley Estep of Lehigh Acres, Florida; Sandra (Marty) Parsons of Cincinnati, Ohio; and David E. (Pamela) Johnson of Birch Run, Michigan and beloved grandchildren, Laura Parsons, Nicole Parsons, Rachel Estep, Robert Estep, Doni Johnson Guertin, David W. Johnson III, Katelyn Johnson Kirby, Sean Johnson, Elaina Courtney, Nicole Courtney, and six great-grandchildren, Isabella and Emilee Guertin, Jacob and Ava Estep, Kaila and David E. Johnson II, and several dear nieces and nephews in Tennessee and close family friends Yvonne Cushing Betts and the family of Roger and Sandi Couch.
A celebration of Emily’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at 1:00 pm at Swartz Funeral Home at 1225 W. Hill Road in Flint. Visitation will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 15.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or the ASPCA (www.aspca.org). Your condolences may be shared with the family at www.swartzfuneralhomeinc.com.
