WRIGHT, William Carlos - Age 86, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 1, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Rev. Paul Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Private burial in Seville Center Cemetery in Gratiot County, MI on Friday after the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to extend their thanks to all of Bill’s care givers, especially those at Homewood Village.
William was born October 8, 1929 the son of Hugh H. and Opal (Earley) Wright. He married Patty L. Whitford August 26, 1951 in Alma, Michigan. She preceded him in death October 19, 2011. He owned and operated Complete Financial Planning for 24 years and had been previously employed by Consumers Energy. He was a member of West Court Street Church of God in Flint for over 50 years. William was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Flint, the Rotary Club of Flint, the Flint & Genesee County Chamber of Commerce, and he was a board member and past president of the Flint Schools Board of Education. Bill was an avid traveler. In 2002 he realized his lifelong dream of traveling to every continent when he and his longtime friend Everette Humphrey went to Antarctica.
Surviving are: three children, Kimm and husband John Roda of Flint, Kendall Wright of Grand Blanc, and Robert Wright and Nancy Morey of Davison; seven grandchildren, Rachel Wright of Nashville, TN, Katherine and husband Carl Mizell of Flint, MI, Laura Wright of Columbus, OH, Jane Roda of Washington, D.C., Mitchell and wife Melissa Wright of Perry, MI, Taylor and wife Sarah Wright of East Lansing, MI, and Courtney Wright of Columbus, OH; and one great grandson, Isaac Brown.
