McCALLISTER, Donald Larry (Bud) – of Flushing, MI, age 86, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024, at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473; Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors from 3-7 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home and from 10 AM until the time of Mass at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, in Donald’s memory.
Bud was born in Alma, MI on April 8, 1938, son of the late Donald and Noreen (Coleman) McCallister. He married Karen McMurtry on July 1, 1989. Bud proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1958. He retired from Sears in 1997 after 30 years of service. Bud loved to take pictures and videos at every family event. He was a huge music lover, often waking up the house by blaring Fleetwood Mac “Tusk”. Bud was a kid at heart, he loved his Broncos and Ford Mustang. When not in his hot rods, he was found on the golf course with his buddies.
Bud is survived by his wife, Karen McCallister; four daughters, Dawn (Jim) Cartier, Kim McCallister, Kelly (Gary) Zoromski, Debbie Garbacz; six grandchildren, Alyssa (Ricky) Plamondon, Amber Murphy, Eric (Cristina) Baker, Ryan (Jenessa) McCallister, Joey (Liz) McCallister-Franta, Mark Gulick; great-grandchildren, Trystan, Conner, Gracie, Mason, Alayna, Jaxson, Reece, Leah, Jace, Mila; sister-in-law, Diana Needham; many other loving family members and good friends, John and Carol Chappel. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Needham; son-in-law, Bill Garbacz; great-grandson, Dean McCallister.
