Lee, Linda (Ross)
7-15-1940 0 5-23-2019
Linda was born in Conneaut, Ohio to Rev. Ralph D. Ross and Harriet (Applebee) Ross. She moved with her family to Medina, NY and then to Auburn, NY as her father pastored churches in those cities.
Linda graduated from Auburn West High School and attended Alma College, majoring in Elementary Education. She was a cheerleader and member of the Queen's Court at Alma all four years.
During the summer following graduation in 1962, she was selected for the Crossroads Africa program (the forerunner of the Peace Corps) to help build a school in Ethiopia.
In 1963, she married Richard D. Lee, and together they moved to Flint where she joined her husband as teachers for the Carman Ainsworth School District. Linda was a first-grade teacher at Dye Elementary. They had three children, Laurel (Sean) Budlong, David (Julie) Lee, and Todd (Mindy) Lee. Their grandchildren are Josh and Jessica, Erica and Elizabeth, and Todd's four children Connor, Cameron, Arianna, and Alayna.
Linda loved homemaking, sewing, reading and her church. She was a member of Flint Junior Women's Club and assisted with the planning for the Flint River Memorial Park. She ran a day care program in her home for twelve years.
Surviving brothers are Douglas (Lynne) Ross and Harold Ross. Preceding Linda in death are the Rev. Ralph and Harriet Ross, sister Karen Gonzalez, and brother David.
The family praises the dedicated staff at Willowbrook Manor for their expert care and compassion during her five years at the facility.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date. She will be cremated and memorialized at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
