Patricia Cornelia “Pat” Milan of Forest Township, age 96, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Court Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member, 225 W. Court St., Flint. Rev. Jeremy Peters officiating: with private burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Pat will lie in state from 12:00 noon Saturday until time of services at the church. Those desiring may make contributions in her memory to Ronald McDonald House of Detroit, 4407 St. Antoine St., Detroit, MI or Court Street United Methodist Music Fund.
Pat was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on March 4, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Orpha (Williams) Hull and resided in the Flint area since 1939, moving here from Detroit. She was joined in marriage to Edward “Ed” Milan on April 16, 1947 and he preceded her in death March 30, 2009. On October 20, 1948, they had their only daughter, a darling, curly blonde headed little girl! In 1965 they bought a 40 acre “dude ranch” in Forest Township and moved to the country. They sold apples from their apple orchard to the public and area stores. Pat also sold a lot of hay and straw at the farm and, to her families’ horror, still climbed into the hay loft at 90 years old to get that straw down for customers! Pat was a person who loved life and showed it in every area! She had a passion for traveling in the United States and overseas, visiting Poland, Holland and Japan. Pat was an accomplished musician, playing for many years as the organist and bell choir director at Flint Park United Methodist Church. She also played the organ for all of the funeral homes in Flint, meeting their musical needs through her service. Her interests led to extensive research into her family genealogy on her mother’s side, from the Blauvelt family, who came over from Holland on the Kalmar Nyckel to New York, in 1638. She also spent many years researching and documenting, on her father’s side, her great-grandfather, William H. Hull, who was the purser on the disastrous sinking of the S.S. Central America, also known as “The Ship of Gold.” It went down in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Carolinas in 1857, during a hurricane. He and his brother, Edward M. Hull, were lost at sea trying to save others during the disaster.
Surviving is daughter Sandra Clay, grandchildren Michael (Christina) Clay and Kathleen Clay. She also leaves her loving great grandchildren, Margo and Dean, residing in Burlingame, CA. Surviving also are nieces Elaine (Tom) Heilman; Gwen, Samantha, Dawn Ginger; Diane (John) Desaulniers Jr.; and nephew David Ginger. Her great nieces Madison (Danielle) Heilman; Emily, Katelyn and Annelisa Ginger; Erin (Daniel) Watkins; Sadie Desaulniers; great nephews Aaron Heilman; Joseph III (Kari) Desaulniers; Wesley Desaulniers; Dante (Jo) Eisele; Blaise Eisele. She leaves a host of extended family and friends to cherish her memory. Pat was preceded in death by sister Vera Louise (Jim) Ginger, nephews Gregory Ginger and Danny Pryzwara, along with sister-in-law Lucille Pryzwara. Please share your condolences at
