BURGESS, Jay D. - Age 70, of Linden, died Monday, April 18, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St, Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrating. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St, Linden Tuesday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at church Wednesday from 12:00 PM until time of Mass. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home 7:00 PM Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John G.I.F.T. Campaign or Genesee County Humane Society. Mr. Burgess was born February 19, 1941 in Flint, the son of Donovan Ray and Dorothy Frances(Bain) Burgess. He married Rita Rodgerson July 24, 1971 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. He retired from General Motors in 1993. Mr. Burgess was a volunteer fireman for the Swartz Creek Fire Department for many years. Surviving are: wife, Rita; daughter, Lynn and husband Wade Haberkamp; son, Jay M. and wife Christina Burgess; 3 granddaughters, Nicole Haberkamp and Claudia and Bettina Burgess; brother, Robert Burgess.
