REED, Dolores Vere. - of Mt. Morris, age 87, went home to her heavenly father on Friday, December 22, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. 11110 Saginaw St., in Mt. Morris. Rev. Roy Horning officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Tuesday from 4PM until 8PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. A Rosary will be prayed 7PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Dolores had a special love for their work.
Dolores was born December 15, 1930 in Flint, Michigan to the late Charles and Gladys Emerick. She was a 1949 graduate of Flint Northern High School. Dolores worked at the Dort Highway AC Sparkplug manufacturing complex for 16 years. On July 2, 1955, she married Walter Adrian Reed, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flint. He preceded her in death April 25, 1975. Dolores and Walter raised four children on Helen Street in Mt. Morris. She was a loving Christian who unabashedly shared and practiced her faith with any and all who crossed her path. A kind and giving women who loved all people, animals and of course her beloved Detroit Tigers and other Michigan sports teams.
Surviving are: Children: Karen (Larry) Walsh of Genesee, Walter (Diana) of Westerville, Ohio, Wendy (Gary) Marble of Freeport, and Dolores (Kevin) Okoniewski of Burton; 9 grandchildren: Michael, Joshua, Chris, and Kim Marble, Amanda Sherrod, Erin Shaffer, Tyler Reed, Sarah Moss, and Justin Woods; 9 great grandchildren; Sister, Sharon Blaska of Flint, who will all miss her gentle disposition, and daily servings of kindness, compassion and empathy. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Charles and Gary Emerick, and one grandson, Sherman Dale Reed-Mays.
