Mrs. Dorothy M. “Sally” Havercamp, OCDS, of Essexville, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region, age 95. Sally was born in Bay City on September 25, 1923 to the late Alger and Minnie (Bellemore) Westcott. She married Robert Havercamp on March 1, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 2009. Sally was the office manager for Havercamp and Sons Builders for 43 years. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and was previously a member of St. Joseph Church where she oversaw the St. Joseph Perpetual Adoration Chapel for 25 years. Sally was also a lifetime member of Catholic United for the Faith Apostolate, the St. Anne’s Society, the League of Catholic Women and Men, and the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites.
Sally is survived by seven sons, Richard (Patti) Havercamp of Sanford, David (Jan) Havercamp of Prescott, AZ, James (Barbara) Havercamp of Linwood, Mark (Anne Marie) Havercamp of Bay City, Robert, Jr. (Cheryl) Havercamp of Linwood, John Havercamp of Linwood and Brian (Katie) Havercamp of Kawkawlin; two daughters, Kathy (Larry) Willis of Tempe, AZ and Susan (Kent) Garson of Bay City; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Westcott. Sally was also preceded in death by three brothers, Buddy Westcott, Robert F. (Bernice) Westcott and Edgar J. Westcott; a sister, Lee Garfield; and a daughter-in-law, Ann Havercamp.
Funeral Mass of Sally will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. Fr. Dale Orlik will preside and the Rite of Committal will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adoration Chapel at All Saints Parish or to Catholic United for the Faith. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Trahan Funeral Chapel, 256 N. Madison Ave., Bay City, MI 48708, (989)893-6583, with the Vigil Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Sally will lie instate at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
