BAILEY, Richard A. – of Burt, age 79, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Covenant-Harrison of Saginaw. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1PM Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Rev. Ted McCulloch officiating. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Richard was born September 3, 1936 in Saginaw to the late Nathaniel P. and Goldie E. (Jones) Bailey. He graduated from Saginaw High School. Richard married the love of his life, Carol Broughton September 7, 1957 in Taymouth Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed 54 years together. She preceded him in death July 28, 2011. Richard was a truck driver with Associated Truck Lines for many years before retiring. He was a member of Taymouth Presbyterian Church. Richard was also a member of the Teamsters Local Union #486 and Birch Run Moose Lodge #2426. He was a very lucky Euchre and BINGO player, he enjoyed his lottery tickets and scratch offs. Richard was a jack of all trades and an excellent wood carver who was very talented and creative. He was a great cook and was especially known for his baked beans, apple pie and strawberry shortcake. Richard was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are: Daughters: Cindy VanHaaren of Mt. Morris and Janine Brewster of Bridgman; Son, Greg Bailey (Chrissy Betzel) of Burt; 7 grandchildren: Adam Brewster, John (Patti) VanHaaren, Rachal (Jason) Yats, Desireé (Chris) Loveland, Brad Bailey (Nikki), Kristina (Eric) Calderon and Maxwell Brewster (Mandy); 15 great-grandchildren; Many other loving family and friends.
