CARPENTER, Ivan Dale - age 85, of Flint, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, November 20, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Mr. Robert Furr officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Whaley Children's Home. Mr. Carpenter was born August 21, 1932 in Flint, the son of Claude and Florence Carpenter, he was born on the family farm at the corner of Carpenter Road (named after his family) and Jennings Road. Ivan was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He married Arden Rith on October 30, 1982. Ivan retired from Buick in 1990 as a design engineer after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Swartz Creek American Legion. Surviving are: wife, Arden of Flint; five children, Mark (Robbie) Stewart of SC, Christopher (Julie) Stewart of Grand Blanc, Darla (Dennis) Appel of FL, Maria (Mark) Fauss of Flint, and Jeffery (Leslie) Mayer of Columbiaville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Dewayne (Phyllis) Carpenter. He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Leslie, Maynard and Claude, Jr.; and sister, Helen Bunting. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
