GLASS, Julia “Julie” –Of Grand Blanc, age 94, died Monday, May 11, 2015 with her family at her side.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Father Gary Koenigsknecht officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of Lapeer, 700 S. Main St., #209 Lapeer, MI 48446.
Visitation 12 p.m. Thursday at church until the time of the Mass.
During her long, healthy lifetime, Julia was blessed to belong to St. John the Evangelist in Davison, Immaculate Conception in Lapeer and Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Blanc.
She was a member of the Grand Blanc Women’s Association, Grand Blanc and Burton Senior Centers. She was also a longtime member of the Sweet Adeline’s.
She was an avid golfer winning a gold medal in the Senior Center Golf Olympics.
Mrs. Glass was a sales representative for Stanley Home Products, winning several sales trips to Florida.
For many years she and her husband owned and operated a Christmas tree farm on Oregon Road in Lapeer. Many of their trees adorned the lobbies in area businesses and churches.
Loving family surviving are daughters, Jane Hitchcock of Millington, Judy (Jim) Kotarak of Oscoda;
grandchildren, Wendy (Troy) Sweeney of Millington, Michael (Dana) Hitchcock of Flint;
great-grandchildren, Taylor Sweeney, Michaela Hitchcock, Noah Bartsoff and Tyler Bartsoff;
nephews, John and Nick Ilnicki;
special friend and caregiver, JoEll Gerou and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents, Veronica and Nicholas; brothers, Steven and John; sisters, Nell and Rose.
