SOWA, Marie Alexandra – of Flint, MI, age 47, passed away Friday, September 20, 2019. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 4 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life, the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan or to the family to help with Makenzie’s education.
Marie was born in Flint, MI on February 21, 1972, daughter of Raymond E. and the late Joyce A. Sowa. She was a graduate of Kearsley High School Class of 1990. Marie was employed as a claims processor for Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company until her declining health forced her to go on disability. She loved her job, reading and shopping online. Marie faced so much adversity with courage throughout her life. She will always be remembered as a fighter who did not let any of her difficulties define her. Marie’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Makenzie Horton; father, Raymond E. Sowa; 4 siblings, Raymond R. Sowa, John (Jackie) Sowa, Stephanie (Larry) Foust and Andrea (Greg Nagy) McGlashen; dear friend, Troy Arrington; brother-in-law, Mark McGlashen; sister-in-law, Michelle Sowa; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce A. Sowa; Makenzie’s father, Michael Horton; sister, Karen Davis and grandfather, John McWhirter.
