REITZ, Russell – of Lapeer, age 68, passed away September 12, 2015. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 NOON Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski celebrant. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday and 11 AM-2 PM & 4-8 Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Wednesday at church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Russell was born in Detroit, MI on November 3, 1946, son of the late Robert and Maryellen (Dresselhouse) Reitz. He married Sharon Smith on November 15, 1969 at St. John Vianney in Flint. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force Reserves. He loved bowling, University of Michigan, playing cards and watching TV. Russell loved and adored all of his seven granddaughters.

Russell is survived by his wife, Sharon of Lapeer; children, Russell (Anhel) Reitz of Lapeer, Robert (Jamie) Reitz of Grand Blanc, Ryan (Kate) Reitz of Lansing; seven granddaughters, Maria, Karina, Kayla, Malia, Janelle, Emma and Alexandra; sister, Mary (Chris) Meyer of Lapeer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Robert (Lita) Reitz.
