Gerald Eugene Lennox

Born: 1/25/1931
Died: 3/26/2025
Age: 94
Community: Fenton, MI

On Wednesday, March 26th, Gerald Eugene Lennox (94) was called home. Jerry was a devout Christian who’s caring nature and selfless personality made him loved and respected by all those who knew him.

Born January 25th, 1931, to parents Paul and Beth Lennox, he was a true child of the depression era. His world was shaped by the harsh times and he learned young to appreciate what he had and to never let discouragement drag him down.

Athletic and personable, he graduated high school and soon after went to work in the automotive factories in Flint. He then joined the Marines and began a journey that would shape his life. He found himself in Cherry Point, NC, peering down from the balcony of the USO club at a lovely southern belle dancing below. “I’m going to marry that girl” he told friends-- and so, of course he did! Annie Sybil Harrison Lennox went from blushing bride to loving wife of 70 years.

After returning from the military, Jerry and Sybil took up residence in Millington, Mi, while Jerry returned to the factories for work. GM was good to them and eventually they moved to the town of Fenton, Mi. They raised three children (Paul, Elaine, and Jennie) and prospered.

Jerry rose through the ranks of GM from factory worker to Employee-In Training to Apprentice to Journeyman Die Maker. It was a few years later, in 1965, that his life took a turn. He was introduced to computers. Starting from scratch, he helped build GM’s new computer system. Thus, started a lifelong obsession with being better at design programming than any one else. A modest task, for a modest man. He spent years on the leading edge of computer design and when he finally left General Motors in1988 he was widely considered the best at what he did.

Following his career at GM, he went to work in Lansing Mi, for the fledgling Saturn Corp. as a designer. This led to his Dream Job at Premium Design in Flint.

Following a bout with Prostate Cancer in 1995, Jerry retired completely and tried to learn to relax. But computer systems called, Poems and stories need to be wrote and soon his office, kitchen, and spare bedroom were full of computers, printers, monitors and parts, oh my goodness, the parts!

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Beth Lennox. 3 sisters, Maureen, Sue and Jennie Pauline. And daughter Elaine.

He had 6 grandchildren-Ian, Shawn, Amanda, Chris, Joel, and Bethannie along with 13 great grandchildren.

There is truly little left to say except that he was loved, respected and treasured by friends and family alike. He will be missed.
