BURCH, Merlyn Geraldine - age 91, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, November 24, 2011. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, November 28, 2011 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek with Fr. Dan Kogut celebrant. Interment will be held at Mount Rest Cemetery in St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held 12-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed Sunday evening. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Swartz Creek Senior Center, 8095 Civic Dr # 2 Swartz Creek. Mrs. Burch was born June 7, 1920 in Ludington, MI, the daughter of Jesse and Gladys (Moran) Shanks. She married Wayne H. Burch on September 17, 1940 in St. Johns and he preceded her in death in 1988. They were a devoted couple for 48 years. Mrs. Burch resided in Swartz Creek for 50 years and was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She volunteered at the Swartz Creek Senior Center for over 20 years and had worked at Lovegrove's in Swartz Creek. She was a world traveler visiting China, Thailand, Europe and Australia and was a member of United Commercial Travelers and held all the offices of the Women’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Burch was a generous and artistic woman who will be missed by: son, Kevin Burch of Dayton, OH; two daughters, Bonnie Burch of Swartz Creek and Jackie and husband, Michael Sova of Flint; two grandchildren, Marc Viens of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Kimberley Roe of Flushing; great-grandchild, Cassi Roe; loving caregiver, Bruce Jewell and many loving friends.
