LUCAS, Joseph “Roger” – of Davison, age 84, passed away March 22, 2016 at McLaren – Flint. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Private burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-4 and 6-8 PM Monday and Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the church. A Memorial Service under the auspices of Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council
# 4090 and Fourth Degree Assembly # 0523 of Davison will be held 6 PM Tuesday, followed by a Rosary at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Masses.
Roger was born in Detroit, MI on September 6, 1931, son of the late James and Luetta (Geise) Lucas. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Lukasiewicz on May 29, 1954 and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2010. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John’s Men’s Club and was a Third and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4090. Roger retired from GM after 35 years as a Design Engineer. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, woodworking, card games and was an artist. Roger’s family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roger would talk to everyone and share stories with them. He was the family handyman and was always installing and tinkering with things.
Roger is survived by his children, Bill (Kitty) and family: Brandon, Kara (Tom), Adam (Jennifer), Kyle; Tim (Janet) and family: Nick (Leah), Heather, Ashley (Nick), Meggan, Lauren; David (Beverly) and family, Joseph, Chrystal (Ryan); Donna and family: Sheila (Ryan); seven great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Hess; many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Annette, Tom, Richard and Rita.
