MITCHELL, Kathryn Evelyn. – of Montrose, age 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Paul Castle officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-8PM and on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Genesee County Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society. Kathryn was born on January 9, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Hayward) Tyler. She lived in the Montrose area most of her life. Kathryn married Eugene Mitchell on August 31, 1945 at Oak Park Methodist Church in Flint. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church and a very active member and Past Matron of the Montrose Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 351. Kathryn also served as Grand Organist in the Endicott/ Koerner and Everett/Marple Grand Families. Kathryn enjoyed needle work and spending time with her family. Surviving are: children, Douglas Mitchell, Cynthia Mitchel and Brian (Jan) Mitchell all of Montrose; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Roy Tyler of Clio; other loving family members and friends.
