CARTER, William L., Sr. – Of Flint, age 82, died Monday, August 27, 2012 at Fostrian Manor in Flushing.Funeral service will held at 12 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road,
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to ALS.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Carter was born in Flint, Michigan on December 28, 1929, the son of William and Emogene (Traver) Carter and was a resident of Flint.
On August 7, 1948 he married Evelyn Nuckles in Flint.
He was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene.
He loved to golf, play softball and ran an orchard for 35 years.
Mr. Carter retired from Michigan Bell, after 39 years of service.
Surviving are wife, Evelyn, of 64 years;
children, William (Rosemarie) Carter, Jeanette (Tom) Benedict,
Karen (Jim) Grof, Sharen (Dan) Weber and Mary (Tom) Smith;
12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren;
brothers and sister, Ed (Donna) Carter, Frank (Delores) Carter, George (Darlene) Carter, Margaret (Bob) Craton and Bob (Cheri) Carter;
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son, Kelly; brother, Fred and sister-in-law, Barb Carter.
