POLLARD, Chris - of Montrose, age 53, passed away with bravery and dignity Sunday, October 16, 2016 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 6:30PM Thursday, October 20, 2016 at New Covenant Church, 13176 N. Linden Rd. in Clio. Family will receive visitors at church on Thursday from 5PM until the time of service at 6:30PM. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take your families out to dinner, spend time with one another, and make memories.
Chris was born June 7, 1963 in Flint, Michigan to Lynn and Shirley (Taylor) Pollard. He graduated from Hill-McCloy High School in 1981 where he was a member of the National Honor Society. Chris married Gaye Castle on August 29, 1981 in Clio. Chris started driving truck for the family business, Pollard Disposal at the age of 11. He worked in renewable energy for 20 years and spent the last 15 years of his life fighting climate change. Chris was a world traveler. He taught himself Romanian, was a Russian Kettlebell instructor, and Viking enthusiast. He was a softball coach, Sunday school teacher, bison farmer and horse trainer. Chris wrestled bears, climbed mountains, jumped out of airplanes, raised wolves and hawks. He was an all-around bad ass. Chris was a strong, loving and generous person that will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Wife, Gaye Pollard of Montrose; Children: Tena (Aaron) Moody of Swartz Creek, Lynsey (Spencer) Ball of Arad, Romania, Trenton Pollard of New York City, and Cristina (Marcus) d'Urso Santos of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; 5 grandchildren: Andrew Moody, Trinity Ball, Annah Moody, Jonathan Ball and Malu Santos; Mother, Shirley Pollard of Montrose; Sister, Kelly Lambert of Montrose; Nieces, Shelbey, Ashley, Bryanna; 68 members of the Castle family; the Pollard and Taylor families; many other loving family members and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Pollard; Father in law, George Castle; Nephew, Ryan Spielmaker; Uncles: Wayne Pollard and Andrew McLellan and pet bear, Logan.
