SWEERS, Lewis Alfred, Jr. – of Gladwin, MI and Lake Wales, FL, formerly of Burton, MI, age 86, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Art Zehr officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, immediately following the service in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10 AM-8 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2019 and 10-11 AM Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of Lewis.
Lewis was born in Flint, MI on May 9, 1933, son of the late Lewis Alfred Sweers, Sr. and Eva (Ebeare) Sweers. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Lewis married Juanita Eubanks on September 29, 1956. He retired from General Motors Truck and Bus Division in 1991 after 30 years of service. In 2003, Lewis became an ordained Assembly of God minister in Neustadt, Ontario, Canada. He was a faithful servant of God and was a member of Shawn Baptist Church in Flint, MI and Oak Grove Log Church in Gladwin, MI. Lewis was a gifted gospel singer and he also loved to play golf.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanita Sweers; 2 daughters, Debbie Krapf and Danena (Ralph) Hammer; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Cory) Sweers, Staci Seltzer, Chandra Addison and Tiffany Kuszmaul; 12 great-grandchildren; very dear friends, Helen Bonee and Kay Stephens; many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis A. Sweers, Sr. and Eva Palmer; brother, Carl Sweers and sister, Berndette Stone.
