DIEHL, Irene L. (Smith) – of Davison, MI, age 91, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Interment in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 5-7 PM Friday, January 24, 2020 and 12-1 PM Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home.
Irene was born in Davison, MI on February 23, 1928, daughter of the late Russell and Iva (Forsythe) Smith. She married Elwood Diehl and he preceded her in death in 2014. Irene was a gifted artist and enjoyed roller skating, bingo, Keno, dancing, music and she was always on the go. She was the owner and operator of Diehl’s Party Store in Davison, MI.
Irene is survived by 3 children, Dennis (Anna) Diehl, Pamela Goodyear and Jerry Diehl; 8 grandchildren, Michael (Joleen), Todd (Kristen), Erika, Paula (Doug), Toni (Phil), J.R. (Jennifer), Tara (Will) and Trisha (Gary); 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen (Richard) Hall; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Iva Smith; husband, Elwood Diehl; 4 brothers, Don Smith, Melvin Smith, Roland “Sparky” Smith and Max Smith.
