J. Michael Barnett, age 67 of Silverwood, passed away September 15, 2018. Michael was born January 9, 1951 in Given, West Virginia where he was raised on a 107 acre farm by his grandparents. After graduating high school Michael moved to Michigan where he proudly worked for General Motors for 31 years. After retiring from GM he worked as a part-time security guard at the Vlasic Pickle Factory in Imlay City. Michael was very involved in the Lapeer County 4-H for many years. He loved animals and enjoyed raising miniature horses and sheep at his home in Silverwood. He also enjoyed coaching football at Maple Grove Elementary for several years. Michael was very generous, hardworking and a big hearted man who will be sorely missed.
Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Louise Barnett, nee. Plummer; daughter Jennifer Coulter of Lapeer; granddaughter Brooke Coulter; grandson Collin Coulter; special family member Austin Coulter; his very special great-grandchild Nolan Coulter; uncle Roy Barnett; cousins Jeanette McClure, Tony Barnett, and Carolyn Humphrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Shelly and Edra Barnett and his brother Timothy (Kathy) Tucker.
Friends may visit with Michael's family at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer on Thursday, September 20th from 12 - 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21st at 11 AM at Watertown Center Bible Church, 1812 Millington Rd, Millington, MI 48746. Paster Tom Knight will be officiating. Memorials to United Hospice of Marlette or Paradise Animal Rescue are appreciated. |
