WEST, Dorothy A. – of Clio, formerly of Mt. Morris, age 75, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at Medilodge of Montrose. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday, December 4, 2015 at New Covenant Church, 13176 N. Linden Rd. in Clio. Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 2-8 PM and at the church on Friday from 9 AM until time of services at 10 AM. Contributions may be made to New Covenant Church Mission Fund.
Dorothy was born January 9, 1940 in Amelia, NE to the late Paul and Emma (Damme) Fisher. She was a longtime resident of Mt. Morris. Dorothy earned her Master’s Degree in Teaching from Eastern Michigan University. She married Merle West on August 17, 1963. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2010 in the Haiti earthquake. Mrs. West retired from Mt. Morris Schools in 1999 with 29 years seniority. She was a member of New Covenant Church and was very involved in church activities and used her talents well in organizing functions. She enjoyed traveling and went on several missions to Haiti with her husband.
Surviving are: Sons: Merle (Kathy) West of Vassar, Mark West of Clio; 6 Grandchildren: Kathleen (Dean) Polzin, Brenna West, Maggie West, Matthew West, Miranda West and Martina West; a Great Grandson, Matthew Sarver; Sister, Elaine (Lynn) Meyers of Mt.
