PROCUNIER, Adeline Hazel – Of Flint, age 91, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Walter David officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Adeline was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on October 17, 1921, the daughter of Austin and Hazel Ames. Adeline graduated from Bendle High School, in Burton, Michigan in 1938. She received a scholarship to Flint Junior College leaving school to take care of her father, marry and raise a family. She graduated from U of M in 1964, later obtained her Master’s. Mrs. Procunier became a teacher at Kearsley High School where she taught 12th Grade Economics and Government until retiring in 1983.
She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron and was Genesee County President in 1996. She was a member of the Mt. Morris United Methodist Church, Ruth Circle, Red Hat Society and Eastside Senior Center.
Adeline was a devoted wife, mother, loving grandmother and valued friend. She valued education and was a dedicated teacher. Adeline enjoyed her bridge club for 64 years, Tiger Baseball, Red Wing Hockey, U of M Football, collie dogs, camping and family get-togethers. As she got older, she enjoyed penning her life story, driving her Cadillac and trips with her brother and her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her sons Kim (Denise) of Fenton and Kurt (Linda) of Davison, her grandchildren: Jordan, Hillary, Janelle, Garrett and Haily, her brother Harold Ames and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Warren (Rip) in 1992.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastside Senior Center or Mt. Morris Eastern Star #474.
