WRIGHT, Shirley A. - Of Flint, age 76 beloved wife and mother was taken home to Glory to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Brian's House in Davison after a long illness.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek,
Pastor Chris Yager officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Mrs. Wright will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. Shirley was born on February 6, 1935 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Addie MacDonald (formerly Pruitt) and Edward Pruitt (both deceased). After moving to Michigan in 1947, she graduated in 1953 from Central High School in Flint, Michigan. On June 15, 1953 she married her high school sweetheart Theodore Wright. Together they lived in California while Theodore was serving in the US Marine Corps and afterward returned to spend the remainder of their married life in Flint, where they raised their four children. Shirley loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, as well as a great friend to many. She never met a stranger and her home was always open and full of love and laughter. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her beautiful smile, her gift of laughter, her joy of life and her love of God and his son Jesus Christ. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior as a young mother and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. She was actively involved at Cornerstone Baptist Church of Swartz Creek, especially the choir where she was a longtime member. She is survived by her husband Theodore Wright; children Karl (Anita) Wright, Mark Wright, Scott (Belinda) Wright and Tanya Wright; grandchildren Kimberly Wright, Karl Wright, II, Marisa Wright, Rachel (Kyle) Wermers and Sarah (Jeremy) Dobes; and great granddaughter Ariel Wermers.
