SHARP, Vance A. – of Mt. Morris, age 87, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held 1PM Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio with military honors. Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12PM until 8PM and on Thursday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network.
Vance was born January 12, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to the late Vance H. and Katherine M. (Walsh) Sharp. He attended Mt. Morris High School and later Flint Junior College. Vance married Ilene Isaacson on June 25, 1948 in Mt. Morris. Mr. Sharp served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #158 as well as the Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post #1452 of Clio. He was the owner of Vails Furniture for many years. Vance was the Maintenance Supervisor for Smith Bridgeman's Department Store and Marion Hall Assisted Living. He enjoyed gardening, camping and traveling.
Surviving are: wife, Ilene Sharp of Mt. Morris; 4 children, Vance Gregory (Jeanie) Sharp of Otisville, Sandra (Lonnie) King of Mt. Morris, Bethany (Roger) Green of Mt. Morris, Harley (Pamela) Sharp of Lynchburg, SC; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Gary Sharp of Parker, CO; sister Francis Pinter of San Antonio, TX; sisters in law, Betty Rust of Florida, Geneva Stewart of Flint; brother in law, Leonard Isaacson of Jacksonville, NC.
